Krina Patel-Sage

Krina Patel-Sage began her career in children’s publishing in 2012 at Quarto, where she designed a wide range of children’s titles from picture books to photographic non-fiction. She built an excellent knowledge of how children’s books are produced which she took into her next role at Weldon Owen. At the same time she began freelancing for Hachette Children’s, which she continued after her first son was born in 2015. Other freelance roles include creative artworker at Pan Macmillan (adult) and Pushkin Press.
In 2018 she was shortlisted for the Penguin Write Now Illustration Prize. In 2019 shortly after the birth of her second son, she signed a 2 book deal with Lantana Publishing for her first author/illustrator title My Mindful A to Zen and its sequel Watch Me Bloom which was selected as a NCTE Children’s Poetry Award Notable Book 2024. Also in 2019 Otter-Barry Books commissioned her to illustrate a children’s poetry book written by Matt Goodfellow which was CLiPPA shortlisted. Her next author/illustrator title is due for publication with Otter Barry Books in May 2024. She is currently studying Advanced Children’s Book Illustration: Professional Practice at City Lit where she is developing lots of new ideas.
